GEN Annual Conference 2014

The Government Economics Network (GEN) held its annual conference at Te Papa, Wellington on Wednesday 5th November 2014.

The

aim of the full-day conference was to explore whether and how economic

thinking is adapting to a changing economic environment.

Topics discussed included:

• Economic analysis under risk and uncertainty.
• The role of economics teaching in shaping our policy analysis capability.
• Handy tips to improve our policy advice with the use of economics.

The line-up of speakers included:

The day was facilitated by Kim Hill from Radio NZ, she also chaired a challenging panel/Q&A discussion at the conclusion of each session throughout the day.

Veronica Jacobsen (Chair of GEN) and Gabriel Makhlouf (Secretary of the Treasury) opened the conference.
